Who doesn’t love brunch?
Really, it’s everybody’s favorite weekend activity. There’s nothing like rolling out of bed and hitting up your favorite spot for some fried chicken and waffles and a pitcher (or 2) of mimosas.
Since brunch is the only thing that will get us out of our cozy beds on a Sunday, we decided we’d gather some of our favorite spots for your enjoyment:
A BYOB brunch haven in Astoria, Queens Comfort brings classic southern cooking to one of NYC’s most popular boroughs. With rows of cafeteria-style tables and good pumping music, this place gets jam-packed on the weekends.
And they have such a unique wait list. The doorman designates a “Question of the Day” that he asks anybody who approaches him for a table. For example, “If you were a rock band, what would your name be?” has been a past question. Then he proceeds to announce all the band names as he goes through his waiting list. He also tells jokes. Seriously!
And don’t worry – the food is worth the wait. Just go grab a couple of bottles of champagne from the store around the corner and relax until your band name is called.
What You Have to Order: The “Down by Law” Benedict. Roasted chicken, bacon jam, poached eggs, hollandaise, a buttermilk biscuit and chipotle aioli? Need we say more?

For the brunch goer who prefers a chic experience, ABC Kitchen is the place for you. With beautifully crafted rustic design, organic ingredients and a rotating seasonal menu, ABC Kitchen, on 18th Street a block from Union Square, is the kind of exquisite venue that is welcomed in bustling Manhattan.
Known for its exceptional service and great cuisine, ABC Kitchen won’t disappoint. In fact, you'll be inspired.
What You Have to Order: Start with some crab toast with lemon aioli – yes, crab toast. Still feeling toasty? The French toast with vanilla-poached cherries is magical.

A stylish West Village restaurant with a rich family history, Jack's Wife Freda blends the tastes of Mediterranean and American cooking with a lively atmosphere and reasonable prices.
Their place on Carmine Street gets packed, and we clearly understand why. So expect to wait at least an hour on weekends. Their newer Soho venue is just as popular. It’s worth waking up for, though…we promise!
What You Have to Order: One of their fresh juices – watermelon juice, please! The Rosewater Waffle is delicious, but the real showstopper is their Green Shakshuka. Also, duck bacon, anyone? Done!

Ready for the birthday brunch bash of a lifetime? Bagatalle delivers. You don’t so much come here for the food as you do for the atmosphere. A nod to the lavish parties of the south of France, this fine bistro in the Meatpacking District starts with a sit down brunch, but by midday the DJ starts pumping, the champagne starts flowing and the sparklers come out.
Only come here if you’re ready to really party. This isn’t a brunch for the meek.
What You Have to Order: It’s important to get some good grub in your stomach to start the day right, so who wouldn’t want to begin with a Braised Beef Short Rib Croissant? Mais oui, bien sur! Yum!

Astoria is packed with many amazing brunch places, but the one we’re partial to is Shady Lady on 30th Avenue at 35th Street. With beautiful rustic-chic décor and attentive staff, this place is anything but shady.
They offer a bottomless brunch option, with bloody marys, mimosas or sangria flowing for an hour and a half. Pink hibiscus mimosas? Yes, please!
What You Have to Order: Their Fried Chicken & Waffles. Drizzled with Sriracha honey mustard and spicy maple syrup, you truly can’t go wrong.
An urban Italian eatery, Locanda Verde offers a warm, inviting atmosphere at this cozy corner neighborhood restaurant in Robert DeNiro's TriBeCa hotel space. Serving the area since 2009, Locanda Verde dishes up classic Italian spirit with a brunch menu and solicitous service that will make you feel like you’re in a tavern in the Old Country.
What You Have to Order: Lemon Ricotta Pancakes. Light and fluffy, these will hit the spot like no other pancakes really can.
